Timothy Bodman (1743? – 1813) and Mary Axford (1754 – 1825)
It is unknown who Timothy’s parents were. He could possibly by the Timothy son of Thomas and Mary born 28 Nov 1739 at Westbury. Timothy married Mary Axford on 16th May 1776 at Westbury. They had the following known children all baptised at Wesbury parish church:
Ester Bodman baptised 16th Aug 1776 and buried 23 Jan 1778
Hester Bodman baptised 18th April 1779
Sarah Bodman baptised 6th March 1780

Ellen Bodman baptised 19th August 1787 buried 12th February 1788 aged 7mths of consumption
Stephen Bodman baptised 3rd November 1797 and buried 6the December 1821 aged 24

Timothy Bodman was a labourer. In 1798 he was mentioned in a court case but was not the accused. The same year, he and his wife Mary rented a pew in Westbury parish church.
He died aged 70 in 1813 and was buried at Westbury parish church on 2nd August.
He left a will dated 14th May 1813 leaving his estate to his wife Mary. From which we know that sons William and Stephen were alive as well as daughter Sarah. He owned three houses one of which was occupied bu a John Bodman. Mary Bodman died in 1825 and was also buried at Westbury on 28th January. She was aged 71.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Timothy Bodman of Chalford in the parish of Westbury in the county of Wilts, Labourer.
I give and devise unto my wife, Mary all those my three tenements or dwelling houses gardens and premises situate lying and being at Chalford aforesaid in my own occupation and in the occupation of John Applegate and John Bodman. To hold to her my said wife for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the said three tenements or dwelling houses gardens and premises to my two sons William and Stephen. To hold to my said sons their heirs and assigns for ever a tenants in common and not as joint tenants subject nevertheless to,
and I hereby charge and make liable the said premises and my said sons with payment of the sum of thirty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to my daughter Sarah to be paid her within six months next after the decease of my said wife.
All the rest and residue of my goods, chattels and personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath unto my said wife And I do herby appoint my said wife sole Executrix of this my will herby revoking all former Wills In witness whereof, I the said Timothy Bodman the testator have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the fourteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen.
